Stamper.jpg
Stamper.jpg"A" Battery Field Mess Hall235 viewsGiven the great ingenuity of the battery's cannoneers, a stateside-quality mess hall was built on LZ OD with Sgt Dan Stamper as "Chef in Charge". Over his shoulder is the 3rd Bde HQ at LZ Montezuma next to the South China Sea at Duc Pho. The sign says: "Ma Stamper's Greasy Spoon".

TR78.jpgDonut Dolly235 viewsYep...a real live one, too. Her name is Jenny, as per her military style name tag. These girls had a lot of moxie to volunteer for this job.

GREAT NEWS!!! In July of 2014, Don Blankin FOUND Miss Jenny...Jennifer Young...and she posted a Visitor's Comment (see link at top of homepage). Also, you can see a "modern-day" photo in the next frame.

SoChinaSea.jpgAftermath of the July, 1967 ammo dump fire234 viewsAfter the great fireworks display at the ammo dump fire on the beach at the South China See, this is what the beach looked like. Probably cost the taxpayers back home a couple of million. {See the "War Stories" tab for more information}
SG-Clip_1.jpg
SG-Clip_1.jpgYes...we got "swapped"234 viewsThis clipping clearly delineates the events that occurred to the 3rd Brigade...often called "the Bastard Brigade" after its arrival in Nam. This clipping has been added to the Mighty Ninth Homepage as documentation for the uninformed or the misinformed. The brigades were not re-joined with their respective Divisions; the men were told to swap out their right shoulder patches.
