File_7-2.JPGHumping Heavy149 viewsMy rucksack came in around 60 pounds along with an extra battery and 10 quarts of water. Plus...I packed 21 mags just in case we ran into heavy sh**. I ran out once and never again. Always "humped heavy" after that. I was carrying close to 80 pounds altogether.

File_2-1.JPGPapa San at work147 viewsWe were on a mission to watch this village on the other side of the rice paddy. After two days of sitting in the rain, we got the order on the third day to go across and check it out. It was supposed to be harboring VC. This picture taken when we were about in the middle. Papa San was out doing his daily chores.
File_5-1.JPGYa got me again147 viewsA Gillette commercial? Yeah...me trying to shave.

File_9-1.JPG"B" Company, 1/14th145 viewsI took turns with the grunts on position defense. A wise man counts his bullets. The men of B/1/14 were seasoned grunts and hard-ball players.
Rick_E_5-1.JPGPartially destroyed ammo142 viewsRick explains that some ammo arrived without fuses. They were told to destroy it with C4 and det cord. The ammo was stacked pyramid style with C4 stuffed in the fuze hole and wrapped in det cord. The explosion resulted in a very large piece seen in this photo that landed in the middle of the gun section. It was fortunate that no one was hurt or killed. Detonating ammo is a job for the pros, not wannabes.
Dollies-1.JPGDonut Dollies141 viewsWow...you didn't see this very often in a combat zone! They're out of uniform, but we let them ride in our truck anyway.
As of November, 2014, we know that the Dolly in the middle is Margi Ness.
File_1-2.JPGLZ St George140 viewsThat's me at left; next to me is one of the RTOs that was assigned to the Commo Bunker. Don't recall the name but he was attached to the 1/14th HQ Company's Commo Section.
File_2-5.JPGGroup conference140 viewsLooks like he got the long stick instead of the "short straw". Another day in the bush with members of the 1/14th Inf Regt.
