JD-315.JPGA very close call!I'm kneeling on the ground next to a spider hole with a dead VC (not shown) laying next to me. The infantry guys had thrown a hand grenade in the hole. They thought that the VC was dead, so I stuck my head in the hole to take a look. Based on what I described to the Infantry guys, they told me that the VC was not dead. This created some excitement with my head looking down in the spider hole. They threw a second hand grenade in the hole. I figured out that the first grenade had wounded the VC so badly that he could not get his rifle, which I saw when I looked in the hole, in position to shoot me in the head.
